In the calendar I record various data from the vineyard. Below is a short list of the times that are important to get the most out of the plants.

  • January: Pruning
  • February: Natural fertilizer application - Pruning
  • March: Mineral fertilizer application
  • April: Maintenance of training wires
  • May: Planting out small plants that have overwintered in pots

Care of grapevines in the first half-year

The planting hole is filled with sand-mixed soil so that the roots have light soil in which to develop during the first period. Give the plant plenty of water during the first weeks. Grape plants should be in well-drained soil. A little fertilizer 4 weeks after planting and in June / July.

In June the weakest of the 2 shoots is pruned back to mature wood, so that the one shoot becomes strong during the growing season. The shoot will grow until 10–15 October. Day and night temperatures are then below 10 °C, and this is too little for the plant to continue growing.
